I am a blossoming freelance
writer currently
calling Milwaukee, Wisconsin
home.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication in
2007 from the University of Wisconin-Milwaukee. As a high school student in a
smaller town, I dreamt of an exciting and diverse higher education experience.
At UWM, I connected with people from all sorts of cultures, orientations and
political standpoints. It also enabled me to continue my studies of French and Francophone culture.
I studied French for ten years.
Learning a second language taught me a true appreciation for the written and
spoken word. In summer of 2006, I spent a month studying at the Sorbonne in Paris,
France. I acquired a
tremendous amount of confidence through my grammar and cultural classes that
lead me all over the city of light.
Living in Paris,
the simplest moments were the most memorable. Sitting at a sidewalk café
watching the passersby as I sipped an espresso and wrote in my journal or strolling
past the bustling square of l'Hôtel-de-Ville,
which at the time boasted giant signs cheering on France
in the World Cup – Allez Les Bleus!!! I often seek inspiration by recounting my
days in Paris.
I approach each piece of writing as
a learning experience, fueled by a desire to thoroughly understand the subject
matter. I enjoy drawing on the element of human experience – examining every
day events in our lives and looking at them in a different light.
I have been known to enjoy a strong
cup of coffee and good conversation. I always have a pen at hand and ideas in
my mind.
